The Concept:
Conventional house construction comes to its limits when building in
maritime areas. Aqua house offers the possibility for being uncompromisingly
maritime. The vicinity to water and nature is taken into account in the
interior design. The whole inner area is covered with teakwood floors if
required. Spacious terraces in all floating homes types invite to stay.
When planning the floating home the focus is on environmental care. The aim
was to find a reasonable balance between longevity, economy and ecological
materials. The input of unscented resins and natural material, e.g. jute, are
a functional symbiosis for the environmental compatibility of AquaHouses. The
excellent insulation in combination with the modern heat pump saves a great
amount of energy.
Yet the heat pump does not need external energy input. The electrical
consumption is comparable with that of an average refrigerator. The
completely biological purification unit saves water and its discharge
parameters are those of industrial water. All RexWall sandwich plates used in
all floating homes are unscented and chemically neutral after having matured.
All varnishes and painting substances used under and above the waterline have
been chosen with regard to environmental compatibility. The woods for decks
and internal construction all come from controlled forestry.
